The Apothecary Diaries Manga Goes on Hiatus Due to Artist’s Health
Fans of The Apothecary Diaries manga will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter. Big Gangan Magazine has announced that the series will be taking a brief break due to the health issues of its manga artist, Nekokurage.
Originally, the newest chapter was set to be released in Volume 6 of the magazine on May 25. However, the release has now been postponed. Nekokurage revealed on her X (formerly Twitter) account that she has been diagnosed with both strep throat and whooping cough. Because of this, she is currently unable to continue her work on the manga and is taking time to rest and recover.
The good news is that the break is only temporary. The Apothecary Diaries manga is expected to return in the next issue of Big Gangan, Volume 7, which is scheduled for release on June 25. That means fans can look forward to a new chapter next month if everything goes as planned.
The magazine’s editorial team also issued a public apology to readers who were excited for the new chapter. They expressed their gratitude to fans for their continued support and understanding during this time.
For those unfamiliar, The Apothecary Diaries began as a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyuga and illustrated by Toko Shino. It quickly gained popularity and was adapted into an anime in 2023 by TOHO Animation and OLM. The anime’s second season is currently ongoing and continues to grow in popularity.
There are also two separate manga adaptations of the series. One, drawn by Minoji Kurata, runs in Monthly Sunday Gene-X, while the more widely known version—illustrated by Nekokurage and written by Itsuki Nanao—is serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly Big Gangan.
As the manga takes a short break, fans are encouraged to send well-wishes to Nekokurage and look forward to the story continuing soon. The delay may be disappointing, but the health of the artist comes first—and it looks like she’s doing what she needs to recover fully.
We’ll be back with updates as soon as more news is available. Until then, stay tuned and take care!
