Takagi-san Live-Action Video Released

TBS has got fans excited by giving a sneak peek of the upcoming live-action adaptation of Soichiro Yamamoto’s manga named “Teasing Master Takagi-san” (Karakai Jozu no Takagi-san). The first footage was revealed on Friday which gives us a glimpse into the world of this beloved series, setting the stage for what promises to be a delightful live-action experience. 

Taking on the lead roles are Rui Tsukishima, well-known for her modeling work along with Shueisha’s Seventeen magazine and her special guest appearance in the episode of “Kamen Rider Geats”, and Soya Kurokawa who’s known for his role in Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Monster”. The duo will bring the characters of Takagi-san live. This live-action adaptation unfolds entirely on location at Kagawa Prefecture’s Shodo Island which is an important nod to the earlier anime adaptation and a move sure to resonate with fans familiar with the series. Watching this live-action is going to make you feel really nostalgic as well. 

Rikiya Imaizumi, known for his work on live-action productions like "Hōzuki-san Chi no Aneki," "Chihiro-san," and "Just Only Love," takes the director's chair for this adaptation. Imaizumi is not only steering the ship but also co-writing the scripts alongside Tomoki Kanazawa, known for his work on "Sanctuary" and "Sabakan," and Jun Hagimori, who contributed to "Sabakan." The collaboration between TBS and FINE Entertainment adds another layer of anticipation, promising a production that stays true to the essence of the manga.

The live-action series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Tuesdays in March, accompanied by a planned international release. Additionally, fans in Japan can catch the series on the TBS channel's Drama Stream programming block on Tuesdays at 24:58 JST, effectively airing on Wednesdays at 12:58 a.m. JST.

Yen Press, responsible for the English release of the manga, provides a glimpse into the storyline. It revolves around Nishikata, a middle schooler fed up with his classmate, Takagi. Every day, Takagi engages him with tricks and pranks, always staying one step ahead. Even when Nishikata attempts to turn the tables, Takagi's cunning and wit prove insurmountable.
