Summer Pockets Anime Premieres April 7, Manga Spin-off Kicks Off Soon!

The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Key's popular visual novel will premiere on April 7, 2024 (JST).

Alongside the anime announcement, a spin-off manga titled Summer Pockets Mugyu Days ~ Tsumugi no Shima Sanpo~ has also kicked off its serialization. This manga focuses on Tsumugi Wenders, one of the main heroines, and began publishing on February 28 (JST) across Dengeki Moeoh, Kadocomi, and Niconico Manga.

What is Summer Pockets about?

The story takes place on Torishirojima, a quiet and isolated island in the Seto Inland Sea with a small population of about 2,000 people. The main character, Hairi Takahara, is a young man from the city who comes to the island after his grandmother’s death, using the opportunity to escape his troubled past.

While exploring the island, Hairi meets four girls who each have their own unique stories:

• Shiroha Naruse — A girl who seems to have forgotten how to enjoy her summer vacation.

• Ao Sorakado — An energetic girl chasing after the island’s legendary myths.

• Kamome Kushima — A high-class girl searching for a lost pirate ship.

• Tsumugi Wenders — A curious younger girl trying to figure out her place in the world.

The original Summer Pockets visual novel was first released in 2018 for PC, iOS, and Android, followed by Switch and Steam versions in 2019 and 2020. An enhanced edition called Summer Pockets Reflection Blue added new characters and routes and later launched for various platforms, including PS4 in 2022 and a Windows 11-supported version in 2024.

Anime and Staff Details

The anime will run for two consecutive cours (seasons), and its opening animation was revealed in December 2023.
