Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 Unveils Theme Songs for Part 2 in Latest Trailer

The hit anime Shangri-La Frontier, based on Katarina's popular web novel, has revealed exciting updates for the second part (cours) of its second season. In a newly released trailer, the anime staff announced the artists behind the fresh theme songs that will debut alongside the new episodes starting January 5, 2025.

The opening theme song for the second cours is titled "Frontiers", performed by Awich. Meanwhile, the ending theme song, "realitYhurts", is performed by CVLTE. Both tracks promise to add even more energy and emotion to the series as it continues its thrilling storyline.

What to Expect From Season 2

The second season of Shangri-La Frontier first premiered on October 13, 2024, and will run for two consecutive cours (half a year). Crunchyroll is streaming the anime globally, including an English dub for international fans.

The first part of the second season featured LiSA, who performed the opening theme "Queen," and -otoha-, who sang the ending theme "Anya no Dancer: Dancer in the Dark Night." These tracks set a high bar for the new themes by Awich and CVLTE.

Background and Story

Directed by Toshiyuki Kubooka (Harukana Receive, Wandering Witch), with scripts by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Black Clover, Record of Ragnarok), and animation by C2C, Shangri-La Frontier continues to captivate audiences. The anime follows Rakurō Hizutome, a high school student obsessed with conquering “shitty games.” His journey takes a turn when he dives into the VR game Shangri-La Frontier, uncovering secrets and challenges that push his gaming skills to the limit.

The anime is adapted from a manga by Ryōsuke Fuji, published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Kodansha USA Publishing releases the English version, while the original web novel by Katarina has been a hit on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō platform since 2017.

Besides the anime, a game based on Shangri-La Frontier is also in development by Netmarble Nexus, adding another layer of excitement for fans of the series.
