Record of Ragnarok Anime Confirmed for Epic Season 3!
Get ready for more epic battles — Record of Ragnarok is officially returning for a third season titled Record of Ragnarok III! The exciting news was announced by Warner Bros. Japan and comes with a new teaser visual, a thrilling teaser trailer, and a special celebration illustration from the manga’s artist, Azychika.
The new season will be available exclusively on Netflix.
What’s even more interesting is that Record of Ragnarok III will have a new creative team. Koichi Hatsumi (known for Tokyo Revengers) will direct the anime at Yumeta Company × Maru Animation — a shift from the previous seasons, which were animated by Yumeta Company and Graphinica.
The series’ main writer will be Yasuyuki Mutō (Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway), while Yōko Tanabe (Handyman Saitō in Another World) and Hisashi Kawashima (Pretty Rhythm Aurora Dream) will take over as the new character designers. Fans will be happy to hear that Yasuharu Takanashi is returning to compose the music, keeping the anime’s intense and dramatic sound alive.
The story picks up where the last season left off, diving straight into the high-stakes showdown between gods and humans. According to Warner Bros. Japan, the upcoming season will continue the saga of 13 one-on-one battles, where powerful gods and legendary humans fight to determine humanity's fate. The seventh battle will be a decisive moment — breaking the 3-3 tie between the two sides. Expect plenty of blood-pumping action, as both gods and humans clash with fierce determination.
For those who may be new to the series, the Record of Ragnarok anime is based on the manga by Shinya Umemura, Azychika, and Takumi Fukui. The first season premiered on Netflix in June 2021, while the second season was released in two parts: the first part came out in January 2023, and the second part (episodes 11–15) followed in July 2023.
The manga itself has been running since November 2017 in Comic Zenon magazine. It has even inspired several spinoffs, such as Record of Ragnarok Mystery - The Case Files of Jack the Ripper and The Legend of Lu Bu Fengxiang: The Flying General.
Adding to the excitement, a new battle role-playing smartphone game titled Record of Ragnarok: The Day of Judgment is set to release this spring — giving fans a chance to experience the intense fights firsthand.
With a new season, a star-studded team, and a fresh game on the horizon, Record of Ragnarok III is shaping up to be an electrifying continuation of this godly battle saga!
