New Digimon Anime Accidentally Leaked Ahead of Official Reveal!
Just hours before Digimon Con 2025, fans discovered a new website for what seems to be the next Digimon anime. The site, titled Digimon Beatbreak, was briefly online before being taken down. While details remain scarce, it is confirmed to be animation-related. The only promotional image found on the webpage was a collage featuring all the main Digimon protagonists alongside their partner Digimon.
If Digimon Beatbreak is indeed a new anime, it would be the ninth main Digimon series—or the tenth if Digimon Fusion is counted as two separate seasons. Fans have speculated for some time that Bandai and Toei Animation would eventually announce a new series. Many believed Digimon Con 2025 would be the perfect opportunity for such a reveal.
Bandai and Toei Animation host Digimon Con every year to celebrate the franchise and provide updates on its future. However, fans often feel let down due to a lack of major announcements. In previous years, the event has hinted at new projects in development without giving official confirmation. Despite this, Digimon Con remains an enjoyable gathering for fans, featuring presentations, discussions, and sneak peeks.
2025 is already shaping up to be a big year for Digimon. Digimon Story: Time Stranger, a new video game, is scheduled for release. The event will also showcase a new Digimon Beyond music video and potentially reveal more about Digimon Alysion, a mysterious project that has intrigued fans.
Why Hasn’t There Been a New Digimon Anime?
Unlike Pokémon, which releases anime regularly, Digimon often has long gaps between its shows. At the franchise’s peak, Digimon Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier aired consecutively. However, in recent years, the anime releases have been spaced out.
The most recent Digimon series, Ghost Game, concluded on March 26, 2023, meaning it has been two years without a new show.
Why Now is the Right Time for a New Digimon Anime
Since Ghost Game ended, Bandai has focused on other projects like virtual bracelets and the Digimon Card Game. The Digimon Seekers web novel tied into the vital bracelet, a device that tracked users' physical activity to influence Digimon evolution. However, the novel ended in March 2024, and the bracelet was discontinued.
Meanwhile, the Digimon Liberator manga and web novel are keeping the franchise alive, but none of these projects are animated. The success of Digimon Adventure in the late 90s proves that animation is one of Digimon’s strongest mediums. With two years of rest, it’s the perfect time for Digimon to return with a new anime.
