Nakamura's Big Wait: Anime Postponed to 2026!
Fans of Go For It, Nakamura! will have to wait a little longer to see Nakamura’s heart-fluttering high school antics come to life. The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Syundei’s beloved Boys’ Love (BL) manga has officially been postponed from its original 2025 release to 2026. The production committee cited “production circumstances” as the reason for the delay.
This news comes as a bit of a surprise, especially since Crunchyroll had already announced plans to stream the series this year. Still, there’s a silver lining for eager fans: an exclusive advance screening event featuring the first two episodes is scheduled for August 24, 2025 (JST). So, even though the full series is delayed, we’re still getting a sneak peek soon.
Based on Syundei’s original manga, which was first released in 2017, Go For It, Nakamura! tells the hilarious and heartfelt story of Okuto Nakamura, a shy high school student who falls in love at first sight with his classmate, Hirose. The twist? Nakamura hasn’t even spoken to him yet, and he’s a complete klutz. What follows is a funny, awkward, and sweet attempt at young love.
The anime is being directed by Aoi Umeki, known for their work on Pop Team Epic. The series is also being written by Yasuko Aoki (Tying the Knot With an Amagami Sister), with animation production handled by Studio Drive. The cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Nakamura and Yuki Sakakihara as Hirose. Veteran voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi and Junko Takeuchi are also joining the lineup, though their roles haven’t been revealed yet.
While the delay might be disappointing, it’s clear the team wants to deliver a show that does justice to the manga’s charm and humor. With a talented cast and creative team behind it, Go For It, Nakamura! is shaping up to be a must-watch for BL and slice-of-life anime fans.
So hang in there, Nakamura fans—your favorite clumsy boy is still on his way. Just a little later than expected.
