My Hero Academia’s Creator Confirms The Ties Between Dabi and Resident Evil

My Hero Academia fans are going crazy as the creator of the manga spills beans on the latest Dabi designs in volume 39 of the manga. In a recent revelation, Horikoshi admitted the fact that he drew inspiration from the iconic video game series Resident Evil when creating Dabi’s appearance.
The confirmation of this mysterious connection came in a behind-the-scenes section of My Hero Academia volume 39, where Horikoshi shared some of his favorite artwork featured in the release. Specifically referring to a piece featuring Dabi, the artist confessed, “I drew this piece with the goal of it looking like it came from the game Resident Evil”. The revelation clearly sheds light on the eerie and demonic look of Dabi, whose skin appears charred black, giving him a horror appearance.
