Manga illustrator Wataru Momose recently took to her Twitter account to announce that her manga series, "Me and My Gangster Neighbor" (Boku to Jingi Naki Ojisan), is drawing near to its conclusion, with just two chapters remaining in its bi-weekly serialization. Assuming no unexpected delays, fans can look forward to the manga's finale on October 20.
This manga, available in English through Shueisha's MANGA Plus service, introduces us to Yuuhi, a young elementary school student who spends most of his days at home alone. However, his life takes an unforeseen twist when his upstairs neighbor, Mr. Aoi, unexpectedly crashes through the ceiling into Yuuhi's room. As Yuuhi becomes better acquainted with his neighbor, he uncovers a hidden side beneath Mr. Aoi's outwardly calm demeanor—a side he's determined to keep concealed. What mysteries is Mr. Aoi guarding so closely? This comedy explores the intriguing relationship between a charming gangster and a kind-hearted boy, as well as the enigmatic secrets they hold.
Wataru Momose began crafting this manga on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform in December 2022, and the third volume was released on September 4, with the fourth volume slated for November 2.
It's noteworthy that Momose previously authored the manga "Romantic Killer," which garnered considerable acclaim and even served as the inspiration for an ongoing Netflix anime series. "Romantic Killer" was serialized on Shonen Jump+ from July 2019 to June 2020, and its fourth and final compiled volume was published in September 2020. Viz Media is responsible for the English publication of this manga.
