Main Trailer Out! My Awkward Senpai Anime Premiere Release Date!
The upcoming TV anime My Awkward Senpai (Bukiyō na Senpai.), based on Makoto Kudo’s manga, just released its main promotional video and key visual — and fans now have more reasons to be excited! Alongside the trailer, more cast and staff members have been revealed. Plus, the anime is officially set to premiere this October on Tokyo MX and BS NTV.
The trailer also gives fans a sneak peek of the opening theme song titled "Bukiyō na I love you" ("The Awkward I love you"), performed by the well-known duo angela.
The main cast members announced include:
Shōgo Sakata as Yū Kamegawa, the sweet and nerdy kouhai
Ami Maeshima as Miho Hotta
Mitsuki Saiga as Ritsu Kankaiji
Previously announced, Lynn will be voicing the awkward yet lovable protagonist, Azusa Kannawa.
Production Staff Details
The anime is being directed by Ayumu Kotake (Acro Trip) at Studio Elle. The series composition is handled by Mio Inoue, while Kenrō Tokuda serves as the character designer and chief animation director. Music is composed by Kōji Fujimoto.
The staff lineup also includes a talented group working on props, animation direction, 3DCG, editing, sound design, and more — featuring professionals from well-known companies like Makaria, Klang Clan, and King Records.
About the Story
My Awkward Senpai follows Azusa Kannawa, a senpai who isn’t exactly known for being smooth or graceful. One day, she meets her adorable new kouhai, Kamegawa, who’s kind, nerdy, and easy to talk to. What unfolds is a charming and awkward romantic comedy filled with blush-worthy moments and relatable interactions.
The manga originally debuted on Makoto Kudo’s Twitter/X in March 2019 before being picked up by Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine in December the same year. As of now, 9 volumes have been released, with the 10th volume scheduled for release on September 25.
