Live-Action Series and Cast of Golden Kamuy Manga Announced!
Japanese network WOWOW has revealed plans to produce a live-action series based on Satoru Noda's popular manga, Golden Kamuy. Set to debut this fall, the series will pick up where the manga's recent live-action film left off, featuring the same cast and staff.
Joining the cast are Hiroyuki Ikeuchi as Kiroranke, an old friend of Asirpa's father in search of Asirpa, along with Maryjun Takahashi portraying Inkarmat, a mysterious Ainu who uses a fox skull for fortune-telling. Yuki Sakurai takes on the role of Kano Ienaga, the elegant proprietress of the Sapporo World Hotel, while Akihisa Shiono plays Kantarō Okuyama, a former yakuza member.
Directing duties for the series will be shared by Kenji Katagiri, Ken Ochiai, and Yōsuke Satō, joining forces with the film's director, Shigeaki Kubo. Yoshiaki Dewa will collaborate with the film's composer, Yutaka Yamada, for the series' music.
The Golden Kamuy film, which premiered on January 19 in Japan, quickly rose to the top of the box office charts, selling over 356,000 tickets and earning approximately 533,848,690 yen (about US$3.62 million) in its opening weekend.
Directed by Shigeaki Kubo and produced by CREDEUS, the film featured a script by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, music by Yutaka Yamada, and Ainu supervision by Hiroshi Nakagawa and Debo Akibe. The theme song "Kagayakerumono" was performed by the Japanese rock group ACIDMAN.
Satoru Noda's Golden Kamuy manga, initially serialized in Shueisha's Young Jump magazine in 2014, concluded in April 2022. The manga's success has made four anime seasons, with production already green-lit for the final arc of the anime adaptation.
