Komada: Original Anime Film Trailer Reveals New Cast/Staff and Theme Songs!

Anime Studio P. A Works has unveiled a new trailer and main visual for its upcoming original feature-length anime film project “Komada - A Whiskey Family,” also known as “Welcome to the Komada Distillery.” The trailer introduces new characters and staff members while providing a sneak peek of the theme song “Dear My Future” by Saori Hayami, voicing the main character, Rui Komada.

Rui Komada, the young head of her family, ails her family’s whisky distiller and takes over the distillery after her father’s death. Facing financial issues is never easy; thus, Rui considers it her responsibility to recover her family’s bonds after the natural disaster by reviving their signature Japanese whisky.

Coming in November 2023, Komada - A Whiskey Family has all of us stuck to our seats, waiting for its release. The film is set to premiere in Japan on November 10 and was also featured at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival earlier this year. Additionally, it will be part of the Animation section at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival from October 23 to November 1.

The story revolves around Rui Komada, a young woman who assumes leadership of her family’s struggling whisky distillery following her father’s passing. With financial woes, family conflicts, and the aftermath of a natural disaster, Rui takes it upon herself to mend her family’s relationships by revitalizing their signature Japanese whisky.

Masayuki Yoshihara directs the film at P.A. Works, with screenwriting by Yukito Kizawa and Munemasa Nakamoto. Character design concepts come from Tomomi Takada, while Kousuke Kawazura handles character design for animation and serves as chief animation director. Tatsuya Katō composes the music, and DMM is credited as the producer, with GAGA Corporation handling distribution.

This film marks the fifth installment in P.A. Works’ “workplace” series, which explores various professions and their impact on people’s lives, following previous works like “Hana-Saku Iroha,” “Shirobako,” “Sakura Quest,” and “The Aquatope on White Sand.”
