Hunter X Hunter Manga Resumes with Non-Weekly Releases
After nearly two years of silence, Hunter x Hunter is returning to the world of manga. The series will pick up where it left off, continuing from Chapter 401, but with one major change: it will no longer follow a weekly release schedule. Instead, new chapters will be published as they are completed, marking a shift to what is being called "non-weekly serialization."
This news came via Shōnen Jump’s official X (formerly Twitter) page on Sunday, which shared the announcement along with a link to a detailed article from Oricon in Japanese. Chapter 401 was officially released in the October 7th issue of Weekly Shōnen Jump, marking the series’ return after its last chapter was published in December 2022.
Hunter X Hunter Chapter 401 Updates
Chapter 401 comes with a few exciting elements. Not only does it feature "center color" pages—where some parts of the chapter are printed in full color—but it also includes a summary page to remind readers of the current story. The chapter focuses on the ongoing battle for succession to the throne, part of the "Dark Continent" arc, which has been at the heart of the story recently.
Hunter x Hunter first started in 1998, following the adventures of Gon, a young boy in search of his father, alongside his best friend Killua and others. The manga has been known for its complex storylines and captivating characters, including the notorious Phantom Troupe. However, it’s also known for frequent breaks, as its creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, has had to take multiple hiatuses over the years due to health issues.
With the new "non-weekly serialization" format, Togashi will no longer be under the intense pressure to meet weekly or monthly deadlines. Instead, he will be able to work at his own pace, completing chapters whenever he feels ready. This is a huge relief, given how demanding and stressful the typical schedule can be for mangaka, often resulting in burnout or health problems.
Although this slower release format may test fans' patience, the devoted fanbase of Hunter x Hunter is expected to stay loyal. The trade-off is that fans will get well-crafted chapters without pushing Togashi to his limits, ensuring the series continues with the same level of quality it’s known for.
