Fly Me to the Moon Manga Resumes - Here's What’s Next!
Kenjirō Hata’s beloved romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon (also known as Tonikaku Kawaii) is officially back! After a short seven-week hiatus, the manga made its comeback in the 30th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine, published this Wednesday. The series had taken a break starting May 7, but fans can now look forward to new chapters again.
What is Fly Me to the Moon About?
For those unfamiliar with the series, Fly Me to the Moon follows the unusual and heartwarming love story of a boy named Nasa and a mysterious girl named Tsukasa. On the day of Nasa's high school entrance exams, he meets Tsukasa and instantly falls in love. When he confesses his feelings, she replies with a surprising condition—she’ll date him, but only if they get married. Years later, on his 18th birthday, Tsukasa shows up again, and the two get married right away. What follows is a sweet, quirky journey of their newlywed life together.
The manga first launched in Weekly Shonen Sunday back in February 2018. Since then, it’s become a fan-favorite romance series, known for its humor, heartwarming moments, and lovable characters. Shogakukan recently released Volume 32 of the manga in Japan on June 18. For English readers, Viz Media is handling the English release and just put out Volume 28 on May 13.
Fly Me to the Moon has also seen major success as an anime. The first season of the anime, titled TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You, aired in October 2020 with 12 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed it worldwide, along with dubs in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German. The story continued with an OVA in August 2021 and another special episode in November 2022.
The second season premiered in April 2023 and was also streamed by Crunchyroll. Most recently, the story explored a new arc through TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You High School Days, a four-episode mini-anime that premiered in July 2023.
With the manga officially returning, fans can once again enjoy Nasa and Tsukasa’s adorable love story as it unfolds. Whether you’ve followed the series from the beginning or just started watching the anime, now’s the perfect time to dive back in!
