ELLEGARDEN Rocks One Piece’s Egghead Arc with New Opening Theme!
The legendary Japanese rock band ELLEGARDEN is officially performing the new opening theme for the One Piece anime. The song is titled “Carmine” and is set to debut on August 10, 2025.
What makes this even more special is that “Carmine” is the first song ELLEGARDEN has ever created specifically for an anime. While their music has appeared in anime before, this time, it’s a tailor-made opening for one of the biggest arcs in One Piece history — the Egghead Arc.
Guitarist and vocalist Takeshi Hosomi shared that he has been a long-time fan of One Piece, making this collaboration a dream come true. The band has been known for its raw energy and emotional rock style, and fans are excited to see how that energy translates into an opening theme for the beloved pirate anime.
The Egghead Arc of the One Piece anime first aired in January 2024, and it introduced fans to a new futuristic island and major plot twists tied to the world’s biggest secrets. After a short break last year in October, the arc returned in April 2025, with Part 2 kicking off from Episode 1123.
The anime is currently airing in Japan on Fuji TV, with the new timeslot set at 11:15 p.m. JST. Meanwhile, international fans in regions like the U.S., Canada, Australia, and Latin America can watch the episodes on Crunchyroll, which streamed the return of the arc during the April 5–6 weekend.
With ELLEGARDEN now stepping in to lead the opening, fans can expect a powerful musical boost as One Piece continues to explore the high-stakes world of the Egghead Arc. Whether you're a fan of the band, the anime, or both, this marks a unique crossover between rock and shonen anime.
The One Piece anime, based on Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga, has been airing since 1999 and remains one of the most iconic and influential anime series of all time.
Stay tuned for the debut of “Carmine” on August 10, and get ready to sail into more thrilling adventures with Luffy and the crew!
