Devil May Cry Returns: Animated Series Confirmed for Season 2!
Netflix has officially announced that the Devil May Cry animated series is coming back for a second season! The news dropped on Thursday, along with a teaser visual revealing that Season 2 is “coming soon.” Fans of the iconic CAPCOM video game series have something to look forward to once again.
The first season of the show premiered on April 3, 2025, with eight action-packed episodes. It didn’t take long for it to become a hit — in just three days, it racked up 5.3 million views and landed at #4 on Netflix’s global Top 10 list. It also made it to the Top 10 in 87 countries, proving that the stylish demon hunter Dante still has a massive fan base.
Netflix, along with producer Adi Shankar and writer Alex Larsen, had already planned multiple seasons for the series as early as 2021. This wasn’t a one-and-done project — they’ve had a bigger story in mind from the beginning.
The series is animated by Studio Mir, known for their work on The Legend of Korra and DOTA: Dragon’s Blood. The first season brought fan-favorite characters to life, including Dante, his brother Vergil, and Lady.
Johnny Yong Bosch voices Dante in the English dub, taking over the role with energy and attitude. The voice cast also includes Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, and the legendary late Kevin Conroy as VP Baines, in one of his final roles. Chris Coppola voices Enzo.
In the Japanese version, fans hear familiar voices such as Toshiyuki Morikawa as Dante, Fumiko Orikasa as Lady, and Hiroaki Hirata as Vergil.
The show also brought in some nostalgic music vibes. It opens with Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin’,” and features an alternate version of Evanescence’s latest song “Afterlife.”
Producer Adi Shankar, who also worked on Netflix’s Castlevania, first announced he had acquired the Devil May Cry rights back in 2018. He previously said the show would be part of a “bootleg multiverse” that connects different dark fantasy worlds.
Before this Netflix series, Devil May Cry had a 2007 anime series by Madhouse and has inspired novels, manga, and even stage plays.
With a successful debut and a second season on the way, Dante fans can get ready for more stylish demon-slaying action soon.
