On September 11th, Netflix released the official trailer for Dan Da Dan, an anime adaptation of Yukinobu Tatsu's popular Shōnen Jump manga. Produced by Science Saru, the animation studio behind Inu-Oh and the upcoming Ghost in the Shell series, the trailer gives fans a taste of the bizarre, action-packed adventures of its two protagonists, Momo Ayase and Okarun (Ken Takakura). What is Dan Da Dan?
Dan Da Dan follows Momo, who believes in ghosts, and Okarun, who believes in aliens. Momo gets abducted by aliens, and Okarun is cursed by a ghost called Turbo Granny. Together, they must face these otherworldly dangers while learning to trust each other.
The monsters in Dan Da Dan—referred to as UMAs (Unidentified Mysterious Animals)—come in various unique designs. From horror-inspired creatures to comical beings, these monsters are integral to the story's progression and character development.
