Call of the Night Manga Finally Comes to an End!
The manga series "Call of the Night" has officially concluded with its 200th chapter published in the ninth issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine on January 24. The main characters, Ko Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa were featured on the cover of the magazine to commemorate the series' conclusion.
The author, Kotoyama, had previously announced in November of the previous year that "Call of the Night" would end with its 200th chapter. After the manga's conclusion, Kotoyama expressed gratitude to fans by sharing a special illustration of Nazuna Nanakusa.
"Call of the Night," both written and illustrated by Kotoyama, began serialization in August 2019. The series won the 68th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shonen category alongside "Ao no Orchestra" (Blue Orchestra). Viz Media has obtained the English license for the manga.
Plot
The plot revolves around Ko, who, one sleepless night, discovers the wonders of life after dark. Nazuna invites Ko to spend the night with her in an abandoned building, leading to a series of late-night adventures, conversations, and unusual naps. The story takes a twist when Ko's relationship with the undead Nazuna is tested by the arrival of a cute girl from Ko's past.
An anime adaptation of "Call of the Night" aired from July to September 2022. Animated by LIDEN FILMS, the anime had Tomoyuki Itamura as the director, Tetsuya Miyanishi as the chief animation director, Haruka Sagawa as the character designer, and Michiko Yokote as a scriptwriter. Yoshiaki Dewa composed the music, and Norihiko Yokomatsu served as the art director.
