Battan Debuts New Manga Series Fatale Game on May 23!
Popular manga creator Battan is launching a brand-new manga titled Fatale Game on May 23, 2025. The announcement was made in the June issue of Kodansha’s Kiss magazine. Battan also shared a sneak peek of the announcement on her Bluesky social media account.
Fatale Game will follow the story of Seri Tainaka, a struggling manga artist. While she once had a successful manga, she hasn’t been able to repeat that success. Everything changes when she gets a new manga editor named Sumire Futami. Unlike other editors, Sumire has a mysterious and unique management style. Seri is both surprised and curious — and that’s where the drama begins.
This new series adds to Battan’s growing list of work. Earlier, she created Soshite Heroine wa Inaku Natta (And Then There Were No Heroines), which started on the Torch website in 2021. The manga was re-serialized on Web Comic Action in May 2024 and came to an end on April 15 with Chapter 21. The fourth and final volume of that manga was released on April 17 by Futabasha.
Battan is also known for Kemutai Ane to Zurui Imōto (Annoying and Cunning Sisters), which was so well received it got a live-action TV drama adaptation in October 2023. That series ran in Kiss magazine from 2021 and finished with its fifth volume in October 2023.
Another one of Battan’s well-known works is Run Away With Me, Girl (Kakeochi Girl), a yuri manga that ran in Kodansha’s now-closed Hatsu Kiss digital magazine. It started in October 2018 and ended in February 2020. Kodansha USA Publishing released the English version of this series, with the final volume published in May 2023.
Known for her strong female leads and emotionally rich storytelling, Battan has built a solid fanbase both in Japan and internationally. Fatale Game is expected to deliver more of the same — a deep, character-driven story, this time set in the manga industry itself.
With her track record and the intriguing plot, Fatale Game is shaping up to be another must-read for manga fans when it hits shelves in Kiss magazine on May 23.
