Bad News for Dragon Ball Super Fans Ahead of 2025 Return
Dragon Ball Super ended its anime in 2018, but the story continued in manga form. Fans have been waiting for the series to come back, either as a new anime season or with more manga chapters. However, everything was put on hold after the death of creator Akira Toriyama in 2024. Since then, things have been uncertain.
New Report Brings Bad News
According to a new report from @cliffeur on X (Twitter), who spoke with Victory Uchida, an editor from Shueisha’s V-Jump magazine, Dragon Ball Super will not return in 2025. This means fans will have to wait even longer for new content. This isn’t an official confirmation, but it’s the only news we’ve had in a long time.
After Toriyama’s passing, the future of the series has been unclear. The artist behind the manga, Toyotaro, has said he wants to continue the story. In fact, he wrote many parts of recent arcs like Granolah the Survivor and Planet Eater Moro mostly by himself, only getting help or feedback from Toriyama. But now, the company is unsure how to move forward without Toriyama’s final approval.
The Story Left on a Cliffhanger
The manga ended on a big cliffhanger, teasing a battle with the powerful villain Black Frieza, who is currently the strongest in Universe 7. Fans are eager to see how Goku, Vegeta, and the others will deal with him, but the wait continues.
What About the Anime?
Many fans are also waiting for the anime to return, especially to see animated versions of the Moro and Granolah arcs. The last movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, came out in 2022 and didn’t cover these arcs. So there’s still a lot of story left to tell in the anime, too.
For now, fans should stay patient. Toyotaro has hope to continue the series, but Dragon Ball Super won’t be coming back in 2025. Hopefully, we’ll get more updates soon.
