Aoashi Soccer Anime Scores Season 2, Premiering in 2026 by TMS Entertainment!
Exciting news for soccer anime fans! The official website for Aoashi, the anime based on Yūgo Kobayashi’s manga, announced that the series is getting a second season in 2026. Along with the announcement, they also shared a new visual to give fans a sneak peek at what’s to come.
One big change in Season 2 is the studio. While the first season was animated by Production I.G, the second season will be handled by TMS Entertainment — the studio known for anime like Dr. Stone, Lupin the Third, and Detective Conan.
Aoshi follows the story of Ashito Aoi, a third-year middle schooler from Ehime prefecture. He’s extremely talented at soccer, but his straightforward and sometimes reckless attitude causes trouble for him. After a major setback, his life changes when he meets Tatsuya Fukuya — a coach from the well-known J-League team Tokyo City Esperion. Fukuya recognizes Ashito’s raw potential and invites him to Tokyo to try out for the youth team, kicking off Ashito’s journey to becoming a pro player.
The first season of Aoashi aired in April 2022 and was streamed by Crunchyroll at the time. It was directed by Akira Satō (Release the Spyce) with scripts written by Masahiro Yokotani (Free!, All Out!!). The character design team included multiple artists like Manabu Nakatake and Asuka Yamaguchi. Soccer experts also worked on the anime to make sure the sports scenes were realistic.
The anime is adapted from the Aoashi manga, which started in Weekly Big Comic Spirits back in January 2015. It’s based on an original idea by Naohiko Ueno. The manga has been very popular in Japan, with over 15 million copies sold. It even won Best General Manga at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards.
However, the manga is now coming to an end. The official Aoashi Twitter account revealed that the series will conclude with Chapter 410. As of April 11, creator Yūgo Kobayashi said he was working on Chapter 406. The final volume of the manga will be Volume 40, while Volume 39 was just released.
With a second anime season on the way and the manga wrapping up, 2026 will be a big year for Aoashi fans.
