Anime Industry Veteran Hiroe Tsukamoto Passes Away
Tsukamoto produced English dubs for Samurai Champloo, Trigun, Sword Art Online, and many others
On June 14th, Bang Zoom! Studios, the anime dubbing studio, issued a statement announcing the unfortunate passing of Hiroe Tsukamoto, a producer who had played an active role in the American anime industry for almost thirty years. Tsukamoto was responsible for supervising the production of English dubs and releases. She commenced her career at Geneon (previously known as Pioneer LDC) in 1994 and remained there until 2007. Throughout her time at Geneon, Tsukamoto contributed to several noteworthy anime titles, including Samurai Champloo, Trigun, Serial Experiments Lain, Akira, Sakura Wars: The Movie, Heat Guy J, Tenchi in Tokyo, and NieA_7.
Subsequently, Tsukamoto joined Aniplex of America, where she participated in the localization process of numerous anime series. Some of the projects she worked on at Aniplex of America include the Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel anime film trilogy, the Sword Art Online franchise, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Blue Exorcist, ERASED, Occultic; Nine, and Durarara!!
